Students Without Borders is a WUSC and CECI program that enables Canadian university and college students to participate in exciting, volunteer learning opportunities in South America, Africa, and Asia.

Julia Hartviksen is currently a 4th year student in International Studies and Modern Languages at the University of Ottawa, and will be beginning her Masters in Global Development Studies at Queen’s University in September.  With an interest in travelling, Latin America, and especially women’s and indigenous issues, she hopes to bring her interests to life through practical experience., engaging in dialogue and teamwork, and working with others to overcome the challenges faced by marginalized groups in society. Julia’s interest in the internship opportunity offered by SWB-WUSC and Uniterra stems from her belief that the empowerment of women, girls and marginalized groups to incorporate full societal participation and leadership can lead to tremendous advancements and bottom-up solutions to the development issues facing the most impoverished parts of the world today.
