Pre-Departure: No Adventure Too Large

March 29, 2016

Hi everyone!

I’m Katharine, and I’m a fourth year student at Bishop’s University in Québec, although I’m currently doing a semester in Monterey Bay, California — I definitely like to wander, and I’m incredibly excited to have the opportunity to intern with the Tanzania Tourist Board this upcoming summer in Arusha as a Communications & Marketing assistant.

Right now I’m studying International Relations with a minor in History. I’m very passionate about my field and I’m genuinely interested in the things I’m learning about in the classroom; I can’t wait to see how the “real world” stacks up to my expectations!

I’m very big on experiential learning, and I’m ready to take my education to the next level and put my skills to good use, as well as experiencing a culture — and a continent!– completely different from what I’ve seen before. There is so much to learn from the country, the culture, and the people, and I can’t wait to soak it all in.

I’m eagerly awaiting training to begin. Until then — kwaheri (goodbye in Swahili!)
