Hello! My name’s Kayla, I’m a recent graduate of Carleton’s bachelors of journalism program. I’ll be heading to Tanzania soon to spend the next three months as a communications and outreach coordinator for Farm Radio International’s office in Arusha.

When I found out about this opportunity through my school last year, I knew it was something I really wanted to do. Although my international exploits are somewhat limited, I love new experiences and have been interested in learning about other countries for as long as I can remember. I’ve briefly visited Europe and the United States, and am so excited for all the incredible new learning experiences I’m sure to encounter in Tanzania.

I’m also excited to use the skills I’ve learned from my degree this summer working with FRI and supporting their innovative programs. I love telling stories through different media, and can’t wait to put my camera to use in the coming months. Overall, I hope to contribute to the great work FRI is doing in the country while finding out about what life is like living in Arusha!
