I’m off to Ho Chi Minh in 2 months!

November 17, 2015

Wow! I cannot believe how fast the time has gone by. I’ve known that I wanted to do an international internship for about two years now, and I’m so excited that it’s actually happening now. This weekend I bought my first hiking backpack and a Vietnam Rough Guides for the trip.

I’ve tried to research the Saigon Hospitality and Tourism College but found little information – I guess I will be learning as I go. There are a few things on my mind right now. What will the job and my work relations be like? How will I be treated in the work place? Do students have a distinctly different status than full-time, adult employees in Vietnam? What do I wear to work? Is it okay to wear professional tank tops, or should I be careful to cover my shoulders and knees??

As for my personal life, how long will it take to settle in and make friends? Where will I live? Will I be near my work and other services?

I’m going to prepare myself by reading about the culture in the books I’ve gotten and through blogs online, and I’m really looking forward to the training in December.
