Students Without Borders is a WUSC and CECI program that enables Canadian university and college students to participate in exciting, volunteer learning opportunities in South America, Africa, and Asia.

Hi I’m Linda. I am currently enrolled in my fourth year studying Kinesiology at McMaster University. I was born in the Netherlands and moved to Canada when I was eight. Currently my family has a dairy farm in Southwestern Ontario. I am interested in doing a placement in a developing country because I think this environment will allow me to learn a lot. I believe it will make me a more grateful person, as well as an open-minded person. I will be volunteering at the Holy Cross Hospice where my primary job will be teen programmer. I chose to apply for something in health care since I want to work in the health care field one day. I hope to be able to continue the teen programs that are already running as well as start some new programs that others indicate that are needed. If I see a lack of support in certain areas I would like to start a new program to facilitate teens. I hope to also be able to learn some health care skills, and learn more skills to help people in difficult situations. I am excited to go to Gaborone where my placement will be. I have read a lot about the city and there is a lot to do. There is even a safari in the city. I look forward to going there! Until next time, cheers.
