Peru: Pre-Departure

March 20, 2014

My name is Roland Tusz, I’m a third-year student at the University of Ottawa in International Development and Globalisation, with a minor in Economics.  From May to August of 2014 I’ll be completing an internship with the Red Nacional de Promocion de la Mujer-Aurora Vivar in Lima, Peru, as an Intern for Economic Initiatives with Students.

I’m very excited by the opportunity to see how this organisation works to create positive change in Lima, and it is important to me that I make a real contribution to their efforts.  My tasks will include supporting in the facilitation of workshops on entrepreneurship and vocational training at high schools in northern Lima, monitoring and evaluating activities, and helping design a fundraising strategy for the NGO.  It will be a challenge to work in a second language and I will have to adapt quickly to their organisational culture, but I look forward wholeheartedly to this adventure.
