Tanzania, Eh?

Time to shed the cowboy hat and acknowledge the joy amongst the sorrow that I won’t be celebrating in red and white this July 1st – a truthful fact that I am (sorry Canada!) ecstatic about! From my somewhat miscellaneous research about the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania – I’m going assume that there will be a very different, less-canuck, display of red apparel, perhaps by the Maasai people of the region.

I have just been accepted to intern with Natural Extract Industries LTD (NEI) as a Communications and Social Marketing Officer in Moshi, Tanzania. My first impression, to be entirely honest, is that those are a lot of intricate words to describe an experience that I currently know very little about. Combined, I have yet to learn what they will mean, but the personal challenge that lays behind it all is what excites me the most! I’m thrilled to visit a country (and continent) where I have never been, enthusiastic about working with the environment and local farmers and beside myself that I will have the opportunity to start discovering it all in less than two months.

Let the journey begin…
